Welcome to Lawrence…

Your first stop in Lawrence has to be the historic Allen Fieldhouse and a visit to see the Original Rules of Basketball.  Nothing will orient you better to KU than feeling the ghost of the Phog.  After paying your respects to Naismith, head to Mass for lunch at Free State.

Next, get ready for an afternoon round of golf at the Jayhawk Club. After golf, settle your bets and enjoy a drink at The Jayhawk Club while watching the sunset.

Dinner is a must at 715, located on Mass in Downtown Lawrence, followed by a round at Lawrence Beer Company before deciding whether to turn in or turn up. You’ve got a pivotal decision to make, if you turn up stay on Mass and swing by the Jayhawker or walk over the Kansas River to visit the OG Johnny’s Tavern.

Gameday

Morning

Start your day with coffee and breakfast to-go from 1900 Barker. Take your breakfast to campus and park near the Campanile. Walk around and get a feel for the campus, from the stunning Spencer Museum of Art to the historic Jayhawk statue. Head back to Mass Street to catch some of the early games before heading to the stadium.

Tailgate

Unless you’re a grill warrior, we recommend grab some sandwiches from Yellow Sub for your tailgate. Jayhawk fans are incredibly welcoming, so introduce yourself and join in the fun. If you’re into grilling, stop by Leeway Butcher for some local meats.

We recommend arriving two hours before gametime, parking anywhere within a mile of the Stadium.  Lawrence is surprisingly hilly, but there’s plenty of parking on campus and in the nearby neighborhoods.

Night

After the game, head back to Mass Street. Meet your friends at The Wheel and grab dinner early at Jefferson’s.  Finish the night at The Hawk with some pizza from The Wheel for a memorable time.

Get Away Day

Start your morning at The Roost or Milton’s Café. Walk a loop around campus or South Park to clear your head before heading east on I-70.  After a solid weekend in Lawrence, you’ll be screaming “Rock Chalk Jayhawk” and planning your next visit to KU.
