Where are all the “playoffs will ruin the regular season” guys at right now? We’ve got a baker’s dozen games this week with playoff implications (Colorado-Utah, Texas-Arkansas, Clemson-Pitt, tOSU-Northwestern, BC-SMU, Virginia-Notre Dame, Penn ST-Purdue, Tennessee-Georgia, ASU-KState, Boise-SJSU, Oregon-Wisconsin, NMSU-TAMU, KU-BYU), which is absolutely unheard of this late in the season. The only people looking more asinine on the internet this week are the public betting on college football and Will from Wheel of Fortune.
Week 12 Pro Tips:
- We’ve had a lot of field stormings this season, due in large part to so many teams still feeling like they have momentum to make the playoff. The tough balance is acting like you’ve been there before while also likely not having really been there before. Ole Miss made that apparent this week when prematurely ejecting from their seats with16 SECONDS LEFT IN THE GAME. Any fan participating in this is the equivalent of the idiots that drop the ball before crossing the endzone. Storming the field is awesome, but is it really that hard to wait until there are zeros on the clock?
- Eye test vs. most deserving vs. strength of schedule vs. good losses. We’re already getting the propaganda supporting three loss teams to get in the playoffs because they have better losses or pass the eye test more than some 1 loss teams. Imagine if this is how we compared members of the opposite sex: Livvy Dunne passes the eye test, but is Sydney Sweeney more deserving? Wait, are you just ignoring Jennifer Aniston’s strength of schedule? Good point, but what about JLo’s quality losses? You’re welcome for prompting your next 45 minute bar debate. Send us your results and we’ll share the best ones next week!
- Don’t be the Utah AD. Look, we’re all about “defending your guys,” but this dude just looks like an idiot. First of all, coming from the Pac-12 and acting like any conference could have worse officiating than what they had to endure instantly zaps all credibility. Secondly, who wears their quilted coat zipped all the way up to the top, especially indoors? He’s clearly an old curmudgeon who is used to getting his way. He’s the dude that causes EVERYBODY to groan when he shows up at the pickleball courts. If anyone doesn’t deserve soap, it’s him.
TOS GAME OF THE WEEK
Arizona State at #16 Kansas State (-7.5) 6:00 CST ESPN
What we like about this game: Battle for Big 12 is down to 6 teams. (Yeah, WVU is technically 4-2 in conference so mathematically we threw them in there). This has been a very frisky conference. Case in point, 3-6 KU is less than a field goal dog to 9-0 BYU. This week we get a pair of 2 loss teams squaring off in primetime and looking to eliminate each other from playoff contention. This is essentially a first round playoff game in Manhattan, KS, the most underrated location in the country for an on-campus playoff game. The crowd is going to be electric and the turf at K-State just looks faster at night. Spread seems high for a game featuring a couple programs that just find ways to win.
What we love about this game: This game is shaping up for an epic RB battle – Cam Skattebo vs. DJ Giddens. These are two DUDES who rarely go down on first contact. Skattebo ranks #3 in rushing in the Big 12 with 1001 yards and averaging 5.8 yards per carry. On the other sideline, Giddens is #4 in the Big 12 with 995 yards and 6.1 per carry. From a team perspective, the Wildcats rank #2 in rushing offense in the Big 12 while ASU is #4. On the defensive side of the ball, K-State is #1 in rushing and the Sun Devils are #3 in the conference. The battle in the trenches is going to be an epic clash. May the best back win!
