Win the Weekend

Heading to Foxborough, MA for a gameday? Dive into our breakdown of what you should do for your upcoming trip.
“Do Your Job.” The New England Patriots first two decades of the 21st Century can only be described as synonymous with greatness. Thanks to the dynamic duo of Bill Belichick and Tom Brady, the Patriots won 6 Super Bowls. Time will tell if Drake May can be a sixth of the man, TB12 was. The only way to find out is to head to Foxborough where there’s nothing like experiencing a live game in the heart of Patriot Nation—where winning is in the air, the chowder is hot, and the fans are hotter.

Gameday

The New England Patriots, founded in 1959 as the Boston Patriots, initially struggled to find their footing in the AFL and early NFL years. The team’s fortunes changed dramatically with the arrival of head coach Bill Belichick and quarterback Tom Brady in the early 2000s. Under their leadership, the Patriots became a football dynasty, winning six Super Bowl titles (XXXVI, XXXVIII, XXXIX, XLIX, LI, LIII) and setting numerous records. The team moved to Foxboro in 1971, renaming themselves the New England Patriots and establishing a strong regional identity.

The Stadium

Getting Started

Gillette Stadium, located in Foxborough, Massachusetts, has been the home of the New England Patriots since it opened in 2002. This modern, state-of-the-art facility is known for its impressive design and fan-friendly amenities. With a seating capacity of over 65,000, Gillette Stadium provides an electric atmosphere for every game, enhanced by its cutting-edge video displays and sound system. The stadium has witnessed numerous unforgettable moments, including the famous “Tuck Rule” game in 2001, where a controversial call helped the Patriots defeat the Raiders in the AFC Divisional Round, and the “Snow Bowl” against the Tennessee Titans in 2009, a game played in blizzard-like conditions. With the completion of the AFL–NFL merger in 1970, the league created a new requirement that each stadium must seat more than 50,000 fans. As no stadium in Boston proper could accommodate a crowd this big, the Patriots moved to Foxboro Stadium, their home from 1971 to 2001. Foxboro Stadium, while beloved by many fans, lacked the modern amenities and comfort of Gillette. It was known for its cold, harsh conditions and a more intimate, though less accommodating, atmosphere. Prior to Foxboro, the Patriots played at several different venues, including Boston University’s Nickerson Field, Harvard Stadium, Fenway Park, and Boston College’s Alumni Stadium.
