Gameday

The Miami Dolphins, founded in 1966, quickly rose to prominence under the leadership of legendary coach Don Shula. The team’s crowning achievement came in 1972 when they completed the only perfect season in NFL history, going 17-0 and winning Super Bowl VII. The Dolphins followed up with another Super Bowl win in 1973, cementing their status as a powerhouse. Over the years, the team has been home to iconic players like Dan Marino, whose passing prowess redefined the quarterback position in the 1980s and 1990s. Despite some ups and downs in recent decades, mostly due to the Patriots’ success, the Dolphins remain a beloved and storied franchise with a passionate fan base.

The Stadium

Getting Started

Hard Rock Stadium, located in Miami Gardens, Florida, has been the home of the Miami Dolphins since 1987. Originally known as Joe Robbie Stadium, it has undergone several name changes and renovations to become the modern, multi-purpose venue it is today. With a seating capacity of 65,000 and a distinctive open-air canopy, Hard Rock Stadium offers a unique game-day experience by providing shade while letting in the Florida sunshine. The stadium has been the site of numerous memorable moments, including the legendary “Monday Night Miracle” in 2000, when the Dolphins overcame a 23-point deficit to beat the Jets in overtime. Another historic play occurred in 1994 when Dan Marino executed the famous “Clock Play” against the Jets, faking a spike and throwing the game-winning touchdown. Before moving to Hard Rock Stadium, the Dolphins played at the Orange Bowl, an iconic venue known for its raucous atmosphere and historic significance. The Orange Bowl, located in Little Havana, opened in 1937 and served as the Dolphins’ home from their inception in 1966 until 1986, witnessing their perfect season.
