Gameday

The Cincinnati Bengals were established in 1966 by legendary coach Paul Brown and began playing in the AFL in 1968 before joining the NFL in the 1970 merger. The team quickly found success, making playoff appearances in the 1970s and reaching their first Super Bowl in 1981, led by MVP quarterback Ken Anderson. They returned to the Super Bowl in 1988 with Boomer Esiason at the helm, though they fell short both times against the San Francisco 49ers. The 1990s and early 2000s were challenging years for the franchise, marked by inconsistent play, coaching changes, and notorious cheap ownership. A resurgence began with the drafting of quarterback Carson Palmer in 2003 and wide receiver A.J. Green in 2011, leading to multiple playoff appearances under head coach Marvin Lewis. The most recent and exciting chapter in Bengals history is the arrival of Joe Burrow, who revitalized the franchise and led the team to a Super Bowl appearance in 2022.

The Stadium

Getting Started

Paycor Stadium, formerly known as Paul Brown Stadium, has been the home of the Cincinnati Bengals since 2000. Situated along the scenic Ohio River, the stadium offers fans stunning views of the city skyline and a vibrant game-day atmosphere. With a seating capacity of over 65,000, Paycor Stadium features modern amenities, wide concourses, and some of the best sightlines in the NFL. The design of the stadium, with its open-air feel and sleek architecture, makes it a premier venue for football. One of the most memorable plays in the stadium’s history is the 2015 AFC Wild Card game where A.J. Green caught a go-ahead touchdown pass from Andy Dalton, only for the Bengals to lose in a heartbreaking finish. Another iconic moment was Joe Burrow’s record-setting performance in 2021, throwing for 525 yards against the Baltimore Ravens, electrifying the home crowd. Before moving to Paycor Stadium, the Bengals played at Riverfront Stadium, also known as Cinergy Field, from 1970 to 1999. Riverfront Stadium was a multi-purpose venue that hosted both the Bengals and the Big Red Machine, known for its distinctive circular design and astroturf field.
