Reynolds Tobacco Company. This relocation allowed Wake Forest to embrace a fresh start and new opportunities. Wake Forest football, dating back to 1888, might be described as the scrappy underdog in the ACC, but this hasn’t deterred them from having moments of brilliance on the gridiron. The program’s pinnacle was reached in 2006 when they clinched the ACC Championship and earned a berth in the Orange Bowl. Legendary players like Brian Piccolo, whose inspirational story was immortalized in the film “Brian’s Song,” have donned the black and gold.
