Win the Weekend

Heading to Austin, Texas for a gameday? Dive into our breakdown of what you should do for your upcoming trip.
Whatever you do, make sure you read this page in the voice of Matthew McConaughey (Green Light). Deep in the heart of Austin, Texas, the University of Texas (UT) combines academic excellence, a rich history, and spirited Longhorn pride. Established in 1883, the university is renowned for its strong programs in business, engineering, and liberal arts. The picturesque campus, with its iconic Tower and sprawling lawns, provides an inspiring backdrop for student life. Austin’s not your typical Texas town – it’s a cultural and culinary hotspot wrapped in a charming college city. Known as the ‘Live Music Capital of the World,’ Austin keeps the rhythm going all night. Drinks flow from 6th Street to Rainey Street. Whatever you do, remember to “Keep Austin Weird”.

Gameday

The program’s roots reach back to 1893, and with legendary figures like Coach Darrell K Royal and Vince Young, the Longhorns have a storied history, including 4 national titles and numerous conference championships. The 2006 Rose Bowl was a remarkable game that has given the Program enough energy to make it through some mediocre squads since.

The Stadium

Stadium History

Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium is located in the heart of campus. Opening in 1924, this coliseum of college football has undergone several expansions, making it one of the largest in the country. The stadium’s unique design is also a nod to the veterans of World War I. Its original design was meant to resemble a horseshoe, and while expansions and renovations have altered its shape, the north end still maintains this unique look.
