Win the Weekend

Heading to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for a gameday? Dive into our breakdown of what you should do for your upcoming trip.
Located in the vibrant city of Pittsburgh, the University of Pittsburgh combines academic excellence, rich history, and dedicated Panther pride. Established in 1787, the university is recognized for its strong programs in medicine, engineering, and business. The scenic campus, with its iconic Cathedral of Learning and striking Heinz Chapel, provides an inspiring backdrop for student life. The Panthers’ football and basketball teams ignite school spirit, fueling excitement and energy throughout the city. When it’s time to unwind, head to the bustling Oakland neighborhood, where you’ll find Schenley Plaza, a lively hub of student hangouts, popular eateries, and scenic parks. For a unique nightlife experience, visit the South Side, where students from Pitt, Carnegie Mellon, and other nearby schools converge to socialize at the eclectic mix of bars and clubs.

Gameday

Boasting nine claimed national championships, the Panthers have been roaring since 1890. Legends like Tony Dorsett and Dan Marino graced the field here, leaving legacies that the Panther faithful won’t soon forget. Fierce rivalries with Penn State (The Keystone Classic) and West Virginia (The Backyard Brawl) have given fans more than their fair share of nail-biting moments.

The Stadium

Stadium History

Acrisure a.k.a. Heinz Field, set on the banks of the Allegheny River, has been the battleground for Pitt football since 2001. Though it’s shared with the Pittsburgh Steelers, on Saturdays it bleeds pure Panther blue and gold. The open-end design of the stadium offers a picturesque view of the Pittsburgh skyline, bringing the city’s charm right to the heart of the action.
