Win the Weekend

Heading to Ann Arbor, Michigan for a gameday? Dive into our breakdown of what you should do for your upcoming trip.
Established in 1817, this Wolverine den nestled in the vibrant town of Ann Arbor is older than Michigan’s statehood itself — talk about a history buff’s paradise! The campus is dotted with historic gems like the Law Quadrangle, an architectural masterpiece that’ll make you feel like you’ve time-traveled to an old English estate. Looking for a good time? Head to South University Avenue, where the bars and restaurants echo with the cheers of Wolverines, creating a party scene as legendary as Desmond Howard’s Heisman pose. Throw on your maize and blue, crank up “The Victors,” and get ready for an experience that’s as rich in tradition as it is in excitement.

Gameday

The Michigan football program has been a force to be reckoned with since it was established in 1879. The team hit its stride under the watchful eye of Fielding Yost in the early 1900s, when the Wolverines went on a tear, winning four national championships in a row. And who could forget the legendary “Point-a-Minute” squads that outscored opponents 2,821 to 42 in Yost’s first five seasons? Yeah, you heard that right, it’s not a typo. Fast forward to the reign of Bo Schembechler, whose Ten-Year War with Ohio State’s Woody Hayes turned the Michigan-Ohio State rivalry into one of the most heated in college football. More recently, under Jim Harbaugh, a Michigan alum and former quarterback, the Wolverines have been clawing their way back to the top of the Big Ten.

The Stadium

Stadium History

Welcome to the Big House… Built in 1927 and currently boasting a whopping capacity of 107,601, Michigan Stadium is the largest college football stadium in the nation, where the roar of the crowd can probably be heard all the way in Ohio. This beast of a stadium has seen its fair share of legendary games, from the ’69 victory over top-ranked Ohio State that kickstarted the Ten-Year War, to the thrilling under-the-lights win against Notre Dame in 2011. Recent renovations have added luxury boxes and a massive HD scoreboard, but the old-school charm remains, making a game at the Big House a truly unforgettable experience.
