Founded in 1865 in the heart of Lexington, UK’s got everything from world-renowned academics to a love affair with horse racing. This campus is as pretty as a three-pointer at the buzzer, flaunting historic buildings and sprawling green lawns. UK’s College of Agriculture, Food and Environment is one of the best in the nation from equine studies to sustainable farming.

Started in 1881, Wildcats’ football might not always be the belle of the ball, but they’ve got their moments. With coaches like Bear Bryant and players like Tim Couch, the ‘Cats have had a few moments but they’re still in search of that elusive SEC trophy.

The Stadium

Stadium History

Built in 1973 as Commonwealth Stadium, it underwent a name change in 2017 after the university signed a deal with the Kroger supermarket chain. Boasting a seating capacity of around 61,000 fans, Kroger Field has undergone several renovations to keep it state-of-the-art, including a $126 million facelift in 2015. The renovations not only improved the aesthetics but also the fan experience, adding luxury suites, club seating, and revamping concourses. The playing surface is named C.M. Newton Grounds, honoring the late former UK athletic director and basketball coach.
