Stadium History

California Memorial Stadium, Cal’s revered football cathedral since 1923. Nestled right at the base of the Berkeley Hills, it offers breathtaking views of the Bay. Over the years, the stadium has witnessed historic moments, like the unforgettable “The Play – THE BAND IS ON THE FIELD” in 1982 when the Golden Bears triumphed over Stanford through a series of laterals in the game’s final seconds. Renovated in 2012 to maintain modern standards, the stadium keeps the memory of Californians who perished in World War I alive.
