Win the Weekend

Heading to Fayetteville, Arkansas for a gameday? Dive into our breakdown of what you should do for your upcoming trip.
The University of Arkansas, founded in 1871, is the flagship campus of the University of Arkansas System. Located in the stunning Ozark Mountains of Fayetteville, it was the first public university in Arkansas and has played a critical role in the state’s development. The campus is adorned with architectural gems, including “Old Main,” a national historic landmark built in the late 1800s, that houses administrative offices and classrooms. Furthermore, the university boasts a strong commitment to sustainability, boasting accolades for its bike-friendly campus, and environmental stewardship programs. The U of A is also home to the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences, named after J. William Fulbright, a former university president and U.S. senator who founded the international Fulbright Program.

Gameday

Established in 1894, the team’s unique name was coined after a game where the players fought like “a wild band of Razorback hogs.” The legendary Frank Broyles coached the team to its first National Championship in 1964 and was an instrumental figure in Arkansas football for decades. Other notable coaches and players have contributed to the team’s success, with 13 conference championships under their belt. We can’t not mention Bobby Petrino, both his successes but more importantly his neck braced post-motorcycle press conference. What a legend.

Stadium History

Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium, with roots going back to its opening in 1938, stands as a monument to Razorback football. Starting with a seating capacity of just 300, expansions and renovations have grown it to hold over 76,000 passionate fans. Significant renovations in 2001 and 2018 have modernized the facility, adding luxury suites and improving amenities. Memorable moments abound, including the 2007 triple-overtime victory against LSU, a game that stands as one of college football’s greatest. The crowd, known as the “12th man,” takes pride in creating an intimidating environment for visiting teams, punctuated by the iconic Hog Call.
