Happy Valley, located in the central hills of PA, is home to the Penn State Nittany Lions. Established in 1855, Penn State has charm from Old Main to the iconic Nittany Lion Shrine. The campus blends history and scenic beauty that could leave anyone in awe. When the sun sets, downtown State College comes alive. The College Ave strip is lined with an eclectic mix of watering holes.

Gameday

Penn State football is steeped in history and tradition. The program, which began in 1887, became a national powerhouse under the legendary coach Joe Paterno. From John Cappelletti’s Heisman win in ’73 to the 1982 and 1986 national championships, Penn State football has had its share of glory. In recent years, Coach James Franklin has kept the Nittany Lions competitive, always in the hunt for Big Ten titles.

The Stadium

Stadium History

Beaver Stadium, where the Nittany Lions roar, has been their den since 1960. The second largest stadium in the Western Hemisphere, it can house more than 106,000 fans in a sea of white for their famed “Whiteout” games. Legendary games like the four-overtime thriller against Michigan in 2013 have made Beaver Stadium a bucket list destination for any college football fan. When the Blue Band strikes up “Fight On, State” and the crowd roars in unison, you’ll know you’re experiencing a piece of college football heaven.
