Win the Weekend

Heading to St Paul, Minnesota for a gameday? Dive into our breakdown of what you should do for your upcoming trip.
Let’s pull up our parkas and head to the land of 10,000 lakes for a rendezvous with the Golden Gophers of the University of Minnesota! The U of M has been churning out brilliant minds since 1851, nestled in the dynamic and icy-cool twin cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul. The campus is brimming with history and charm, including the Knoll area, known for its historic buildings and architecture that’ll make any history lover’s heart skip a beat. Dinkytown, adjacent to campus, is where you want to be. You’ll be cheering ‘Ski-U-Mah’ into the wee hours rain, snow, or shine.

Gameday

Minnesota football is as storied as Paul Bunyan’s legend. Established in 1882, the program had a heyday in the 1930s and 40s under the guidance of Bernie Bierman, when the Gophers racked up five national championships and cemented their place in college football history. These days, under the leadership of the relentlessly energetic P.J. Fleck and his “Row the Boat” mantra, the Gophers are back on the map and looking to bring the glory days back to Dinkytown.

The Stadium

Stadium History

The Gophers’ borrow into their nest, known as TCF Bank Stadium. This den is the first Big Ten stadium built since 1960 and is a modern marvel wrapped in Minnesota limestone. It’s hosted some insane battles since its opening in 2009, including the 2019 ‘Axe Game’ victory over Wisconsin that sent the Gophers to the Big Ten Championship. With a seating capacity of over 50,000, you can feel the roar of the maroon and gold echoing off the Mississippi River. So, grab your warmest gear and get ready for a uniquely Minnesotan football experience, where the chill in the air is matched only by the heat on the field.
