Win the Weekend

Heading to Seattle, Washington for a gameday? Dive into our breakdown of what you should do for your upcoming trip.
Founded on November 4, 1861, it’s one of the oldest universities on the West Coast. Originally, it was called the Territorial University of Washington. That’s right, it’s so old, Washington wasn’t even a state yet! The Suzzallo Library looks like something out of Hogwarts and has been named one of the 18 most beautiful college libraries in the world. Think of tech giants, mountain views, and a campus that’s basically a giant garden. Seattle’s not just about the Space Needle or your favorite grunge band. This city’s got everything from Pike Place Market’s fish-throwing to craft beer, coffee shops (duh), and a nightlife scene that’ll keep you awake.

Gameday

Washington’s been tearing up the turf since 1889, with 17 conference titles and a good ol’ national championship in 1991. Players like Warren Moon and Steve Emtman are part of the Husky Hall of Fame. And let’s not forget the iconic “Purple Reign” defense that ruled the gridiron.

Tailgate Traditions

Tailgating 101

Ever tailgated on a boat? At Washington, they tailgate on the water. The whole scene around Husky Harbor is like a floating fiesta where fans arrive by boat, kayak, and even paddleboard to join the party.

The Stadium

Stadium History

Husky Stadium, the crown jewel of the Pacific Northwest. Opened in 1920 and renovated in 2013, it’s a beauty by the bay, with Lake Washington and the Cascades as your gameday backdrop. That’s right, mountains and football, all in one eyeful. It’s hosted everything from NFL games to concerts, and with a seating capacity of over 70,000, it gets LOUD. Ever heard of the “Greatest Setting in College Football?” Yep, that’s Husky Stadium.
