Established in 1876, CU Boulder is a public research university that prides itself on innovative academics and is renowned for its programs in engineering, business, and environmental science. The campus is simply breathtaking, with the Flatirons as its backdrop, and don’t even get me started on the plethora of outdoor activities at your fingertips – we’re talking hiking, skiing, and so much more. Boulder is a lively college town filled with organic eateries, hipster coffee shops, eclectic boutiques, and art galleries. While it may not have a classic “bar district,” Pearl Street Mall is the heart of Boulder’s nightlife, with its rooftop bars offering jaw-dropping views of the mountainous surroundings. When you’re not at a game, take a stroll down Boulder Creek Path, or better yet, tackle one of the many hiking trails that the city has to offer.

Colorado Buffaloes football is steeped in a history that dates back to 1890. The program has a prestigious record, with a national title, numerous conference championships, and Heisman Trophy winner Rashaan Salaam in its archives. The Buffs’ 1990 season still resonates with fans when under Coach Bill McCartney, the team claimed its sole national championship, etching a permanent mark in college football history. Kordell Stewart also left a decent mark before CU descended back into their era of mediocrity.

The Stadium

Stadium History

Folsom Field, the third-highest stadium in college football, sitting pretty at 5,360 feet above sea level. Opening its gates in 1924, the stadium has undergone several renovations to maintain its modern standards while preserving its historic charm. It has been the stage for many of CU’s greatest football moments, including the epic 62-36 victory over Nebraska in 2001, ending the Cornhuskers’ 11-year win streak. The stadium’s unique feature, Ralphie’s Corral, named after the team’s live buffalo mascot, Ralphie, gives fans a once-in-a-lifetime chance to see this majestic creature up close.
