Win the Weekend

Heading to Knoxville, Tennessee for a gameday? Dive into our breakdown of what you should do for your upcoming trip.
Rocky Top reverberating through the Smoky Mountains on a Saturday afternoon with what Trip on Sports is made for. Absolutely iconic just like their orange and white checkerboard end zones at Neyland Stadium. Nestled in the heart of Knoxville, Tennessee was founded in 1794, making it one of the oldest institutions in the country. UT is known for its top-notch programs in engineering, business, and agriculture, among others. Stroll down Market Square and Gay Street to explore local shops, restaurants, and art galleries, or take a scenic drive through the nearby Great Smoky Mountains National Park to soak in the natural beauty of the region.

Gameday

Experience the deafening roar of over 100,000 fans at Neyland Stadium, one of the largest college football venues in the country. The University of Tennessee has been a member of the Southeastern Conference since 1933. They have won six national championships, in 1938, 1940, 1951, 1967, 1989, and 1998. It really is odd how they won the ‘ship after Peyton Manning left, but it is what it is. They have not won a conference championship since 1998, and they have not been to a bowl game since 2019 but Josh Heupel is there to steer the ship, literally down the river.

Tailgating 101

The Vol Navy is a unique flotilla of boats that anchors down on the Tennessee River, right by Neyland Stadium. It's a floating party, where BBQ, country music, and Volunteer spirit flow freely. Whether by boat or on land, Tennessee fans know how to throw a party that rivals the action on the field.

The Stadium

Stadium History

Opened in 1921 and named after the legendary coach General Robert Neyland, this stadium is a cathedral of college football. With a seating capacity of over 100,000, it’s one of the largest and loudest in the country. If you’re lucky enough to hear “Rocky Top” echoing through those Tennessee hills, you’ll know you’re in a place where football is more than a game – it’s a way of life.
