Win the Weekend

Heading to Columbia, Missouri for a gameday? Dive into our breakdown of what you should do for your upcoming trip.
The University of Missouri, located in Columbia, was founded in 1839 and is the oldest public university west of the Mississippi River. Known for its iconic Columns, Mizzou’s campus is a blend of history and modernity, with a strong commitment to research and academics. Mizzou is also famous for its journalism school, which was the first in the world and remains a leader in the field. The campus environment is lively, with the arts, culture, and student organizations thriving in the heart of the Show-Me State.

Gameday

Missouri Tigers football dates back to 1890, and the program has seen its share of success and legendary players. With multiple conference championships, Mizzou has a proud football tradition, known for its fast-paced offenses and staunch defenses. The team’s famous “Mizzou Made” mantra emphasizes the development of student-athletes on and off the field. The Tigers always seem to be the bridesmaid, never the bride with brutal losses from the 5th Down against Nebraska to the 2007 Border War.

Parking

Parking 101

Walking to Faurot Field from Downtown COMO is doable and clocks in at slightly more than a mile straight South through campus. If you drive for a proper tailgate, below are our recommendations.

Stadium West Side

A Lot, Founders Lot, C Lot - If your buddy's Dad is a big time car dealer in STL, you're going to wanna grab his parking pass and head to this side of the Stadium.

Fifth & Turner

This is an awesome, low key spot behind the Pi Phi Lot. It's not affiliated with the University so it tends not to fill up... A huge plus if that you can get through the stadium with the tunnel.

Tailgate Traditions

Tailgating 101

Fill.

Tiger Walk

Players walk from the Athletic Training Complex across the Pedestrian Bridge and down the South tunnel to their locker room. This unique activity occurs two hours before game time.

The Columns

In 1892, a fire destroyed Missouri’s first campus building, Academic Hall in 1892. The local limestone columns were all that remained. If you walk from Downtown COMO to Faurot Field, swing by Francis Quadrangle for a great photo opp.

Revel XP

If you’re looking for a full service tailgate, Revel XP offers hassle free tailgating right outside the stadium.

The Stadium

Stadium History

Faurot Field, also known as “The Zou,” opened in 1926 and has undergone several expansions and renovations, most recently in 2019. Named after legendary coach Don Faurot, the stadium is known for its unique “M” made of whitewashed rocks behind the north end zone. With a capacity of over 61,000, the stadium provides an intense and intimate game-day experience.

Best Stadium Spots

Rock M is located in the North end zone, formed by whitewashed rocks. It measures 90-feet wide and 95-feet high, debuting in 1927. Fans can sit on the surrounding hill and on the rocks. Tiger Tap House outside Section 120.

Best Stadium Food & Drink

Your best bets are found in the North Endzone Zou Chew. We recommend the Bacon Jam Cheddar Burger.

What to Watch For

  • MIZ-ZOU after each touchdown.
  • The Antlers
  • Truman the Tiger
  • Golden Girls – The twirling line officially became the gold-sequined, high-kicking dance line that it is today. The Golden Girls have won three pom dance national championships.
