Win the Weekend

Heading to Waco, Texas for a gameday? Dive into our breakdown of what you should do for your upcoming trip.
We’re headed south to the heart of Texas, to Waco, home of Baylor University and Dr Pepper. Known as the oldest continuously operating university in Texas, Baylor was founded by Baptist pioneers back in 1845. The campus oozes historic charm with its beautiful Georgian architecture, burbling creeks, and the iconic Pat Neff Hall, a glowing beacon of Baylor pride. Baylor’s well-respected programs in business, law, music, theology and a host of other disciplines put it squarely on the map as a top-tier institution. Baylor’s commitment to excellence isn’t just academic. It extends to community service, arts, and, of course, athletics. The school’s motto, “Pro Ecclesia, Pro Texana” (For Church, For Texas), reflects its dedication to faith, learning, and public service.

Gameday

Baylor football has a rich and varied history dating back to its inception in 1899. The Bears have produced a number of standout players, including Robert Griffin III, the 2011 Heisman Trophy winner. Under current coach Dave Aranda, Baylor continues to make its presence felt in the Big 12, consistently vying for conference titles.

The Visitor Section fluctuates between (FILL).

Our Ticketing Partners

Parking

Parking 101

The Brazos Landing

The $50 parking may seem steep, but you get to offset it against your bar tab or your to-go margaritas. Brazos Landing is directly across I-35 from the Stadium.

Law School Parking

The Sheila and Walter Umphrey Pedestrian Bridge connects the Baylor University parking with McLane Stadium as it crosses the Brazos River.

Tailgate Traditions

Tailgating 101

A unique tradition is to Sailgate on the Brazos River. Reserved boat slips are typically sold sold out in the Baylor Basin unless you have a connection to a Baylor Bear Foundation member. However, companies like Waco Paddle Company (launching from the Franklin Avenue bridge) and Pura Vida Paddle (launching from Buzzard Billy’s) rent out canoes, standing paddleboards and kayaks.

The Stadium

Stadium History

McLane Stadium, opened in 2014, has quickly become an iconic location in college football. It’s been the site of numerous thrilling games and moments, including the inaugural 2014 game against SMU, which the Bears won 45-0. McLane Stadium is not only a modern architectural marvel but its location on the Brazos River adds a unique aspect to the game day experience – fans can literally “sailgate” to the game. Its passionate fan base, riverfront views, and Texas-sized video board make McLane Stadium an unmatched venue in college football.

Best Stadium Spots

Section 315 provides an elevated complete view of the stadium, but no Brazos River view. Sections 117-129, as well as all Baylor Line sections, are designated for Baylor students and band members.

Best Stadium Food & Drink

Grab a Dr Pepper in honor of Baylor’s “Dr Pepper Hour”, a tradition of free Dr Pepper floats.

What to Watch For

Sic ‘Em – Bear Claw hand signal and yell

Baylor Line – New students (typically Freshman) run on the field in their yellow practice jerseys and make a human tunnel for the players to run out before every game.

Baylor Bear Habitat – These black bears live on campus.

Watch Pat Neff turn green after a Baylor “W”.
