Sorry for the delay of game on us! Our resource in charge of the Weekend Watch Guide has been fined one week’s pay. Unfortunately that means he’ll go from $0 to $0 like the rest of us at TOS, but like the SEC we totally think the sternly worded email will get his attention!
Ok, are we the luckiest fans ever? I mean, week after week we keep getting total BANGERS. There has to be a bad week coming and our advice is just keep mentally preparing yourself. Could we get our fourth epic week in a row? Probably not, but stranger things have definitely happened!
Week 9 Pro Tips:
- After the DKR Debacle last week in Texas, this is going to be a big week for officials. There’s no denying the precedent they created when it comes to fans disagreeing with calls, so what do they do now? For what it’s worth, when I threw socks at my wife after she asked me to put my clothes away the only thing she changed her mind about is where I was sleeping that night, so I can confirm this does not apply universally to other situations.
- Get ready to be inundated with conference tiebreaker talk. One of the biggest disasters of conference realignment is going to be figuring out who plays in conference championship games. Obviously these things typically work themselves out, but how crazy would this be? FYI, standings should never be decided by a coin flip when so many other options exist. RPS? Beer chug? My favorite, lineman tug of war! Imagine everyone that is tied showing up to play the game, going through warmups then meeting at the 50 yard line with a big rope right before the coin toss for the game to decide who stays on the field and plays the game!
- Smoking cigars in stadiums after home victories should become a tradition everywhere – as long as you can look cooler than Tennessee students while doing it. Yeah, yeah, health and all that but we’re all gonna die anyway. The scene in Knoxville after the victory against Bama was legit and seeing the smoke rise above the stadium (seems fake, but whatever) was totally bad ass.
TOS GAME OF THE WEEK
#12 Notre Dame (-13.5) vs. #24 Navy at Metlife Stadium 11:00 CDT ABC
What we like about this game: Nothing much more American than supporting the troops and degenerate gamblers around the country aren’t shying away from showing their patriotism. It’s going to be a tough hill to climb for the Midshipmen, but the way this season is going it wouldn’t be a total shock to see a Notre Dame-Navy ending that could top this one.
What we love about this game: There’s been lots of talk this year about transfer portal and NIL creating disparity. So far it’s seemed to cultivate the opposite, however, the majority of those comparisons are happening at the Power 5 level. This is one of the first games (Boise-Oregon being another) where we really get to see a thriving G5 against a legit P5. One of these rosters has players who received cash for showing up while the other received fatigues and a trip to basic training. Catholics vs. Calisthenics, let’s go!
