Win the Weekend

Heading to New Orleans, LA for a gameday? Dive into our breakdown of what you should do for your upcoming trip.
Who Dat?!? The New Orleans Saints, the heart and soul of the Big Easy, bring a flair to football that’s as spicy as the city itself. Playing in the iconic Caesars Superdome, the Saints have turned Sundays into a Mardi Gras-like spectacle since their founding in 1967. The 2009 Super Bowl win was a storybook moment, with Drew Brees leading the charge and cementing his place as a NOLA legend. The Superdome, rebuilt and re-energized after Hurricane Katrina, stands as a symbol of resilience and the never-say-die spirit of New Orleans. Inside, you’ll find one of the loudest, rowdiest fan bases in the NFL, making it a nightmare for visiting teams. There’s no better way to experience football than in the city that knows how to throw a party—grab some gumbo and let the good times roll!

Gameday

The New Orleans Saints, founded in 1967, started their journey with humble beginnings and years of struggle. Archie Manning, the team’s star quarterback in the 1970s, became a beloved figure despite the team’s lack of success during his tenure. Their first big moment came in 1987 when they made the playoffs for the first time, igniting hope in their loyal fan base. For more than a decade, New Orleands endured the “Aints” era by wearing paper bags over their heads. The franchise’s fortunes changed dramatically with the arrival of head coach Sean Payton and quarterback Drew Brees in 2006, a year after Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans. This dynamic duo led the team to its first Super Bowl victory in 2009, defeating the Indianapolis Colts in a game that symbolized the city’s resilience and rebirth.

The Stadium

Getting Started

The Caesars Superdome, an iconic landmark in New Orleans, has been the home of the New Orleans Saints since it opened in 1975. Originally known as the Louisiana Superdome, this massive structure has hosted numerous historic events, including seven Super Bowls, numerous college football championships, and the unforgettable 1980 Sugar Bowl where the Georgia Bulldogs claimed victory. Its distinctive domed roof and colossal seating capacity make it one of the most recognizable stadiums in the world. The Superdome is more than just a sports venue; it’s a symbol of the city’s resilience and spirit, especially after its remarkable renovation following the devastation of Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Beyond football, the Caesars Superdome has been a versatile venue for concerts, conventions, and other major events. It’s seen legendary performances from artists like The Rolling Stones, U2, and Beyoncé, making it a cultural hub as well. The stadium’s unique ability to adapt and evolve has kept it at the forefront of American sports and entertainment venues. Before the Superdome opened in 1975, the New Orleans Saints played their home games at Tulane Stadium.
