Gameday

The Indianapolis Colts began their journey as the Baltimore Colts in 1953, quickly becoming a powerhouse in the NFL. Under the leadership of legendary quarterback Johnny Unitas, the Colts captured NFL championships in 1958 and 1959, with the 1958 title game famously dubbed “The Greatest Game Ever Played.” The team continued to thrive, securing a victory in Super Bowl V in 1971. However, despite their on-field success, financial struggles and stadium issues plagued the franchise. In a dramatic and controversial move, the Colts packed up in the middle of the night and relocated to Indianapolis in 1984, a move executed with Mayflower moving vans that has since become iconic. The team’s fortunes improved in Indy, particularly with the arrival of quarterback Peyton Manning in 1998, leading to a Super Bowl XLI victory in 2007.
