One Pride. The Detroit Lions might be an underdog story, but they’ve got grit, history, and one of the most unique fan experiences in the NFL. Ford Field, their home turf, is a modern marvel nestled right in downtown Detroit, featuring a cozy indoor setting that keeps fans loud and rowdy no matter the weather outside. The Ford Family, who have owned the team since 1963, have been pivotal in shaping the franchise’s identity and deep roots in Detroit. Despite their passionate fan base and storied history, the Lions are still chasing that elusive Super Bowl title, making every season a fresh quest for glory. With a loyal fan base that’s stuck through thick and thin, Lions games are a rollercoaster of emotion, from Barry Sanders’ legendary runs to recent heartbreaks. Ford Field is more than just a stadium; it’s a testament to Detroit’s resilience, complete with great sightlines, top-notch amenities, and a roaring crowd. So head to the Motor City for some pigskin, bonus points if you make it on Thanksgiving…

Gameday

The Detroit Lions were established in 1930 as the Portsmouth Spartans before relocating to Detroit in 1934 and rebranding. They quickly made a mark by winning NFL championships in 1935, 1952, 1953, and 1957, solidifying their place in football history. The Lions became synonymous with Thanksgiving Day football, a tradition that began in 1934 and continues to this day. Despite these early successes, the team has struggled in recent decades, often finding themselves as underdogs in the NFL landscape. Legendary running back Barry Sanders provided a bright spot in the 1990s, dazzling fans with his incredible moves and rushing achievements. Ownership by the Ford Family since 1963 has brought stability and deep local ties, but the team still chases its first Super Bowl appearance. If anyone can bring the Lions’ pride to glory, it’s gotta be HC Dan Campbell.

The Stadium

Getting Started

Ford Field, home to the Detroit Lions since 2002, is a state-of-the-art indoor stadium located in the heart of downtown Detroit. Known for its impressive architecture, the stadium incorporates the old Hudson’s warehouse, blending historic charm with modern amenities. With a seating capacity of around 65,000, Ford Field offers fans a fantastic game-day experience, complete with excellent sightlines, premium seating options, and a lively atmosphere that keeps the energy high regardless of the weather outside. The stadium also hosts a variety of events beyond football, including concerts and college sports, making it a central hub for entertainment in Detroit. Before moving to Ford Field, the Lions played at the Pontiac Silverdome from 1975 to 2001 and Tiger Stadium before that. While these previous venues had their own charm and history, Ford Field has become a symbol of the Lions’ future and Detroit’s resurgence.
