Gameday

The Chicago Bears were founded in 1920 as the Decatur Staleys before moving to Chicago in 1921 and becoming one of the NFL’s charter franchises. They quickly established themselves as a dominant force in the league, winning eight NFL championships before the Super Bowl era, with legendary players like Bronko Nagurski and Red Grange. In 1985, under the leadership of coach Mike Ditka and star running back Walter Payton, the Bears won Super Bowl XX, featuring one of the greatest defenses in NFL history. Known as the “Monsters of the Midway,” this team became iconic for its dominating style of play and larger-than-life personalities. The Bears have a storied rivalry with the Green Bay Packers, one of the oldest and fiercest in professional sports. Throughout their history, the team has produced numerous Hall of Famers, including Dick Butkus, Gale Sayers, and Mike Singletary. Despite ups and downs, the Bears remain a cornerstone of the NFL and have new hope with the overall #1 pick, Caleb Williams.

Getting Started

Soldier Field, the iconic home of the Chicago Bears since 1971, is one of the NFL’s most historic and revered stadiums. Located on the shores of Lake Michigan, the stadium combines classic architectural elements with modern renovations completed in 2003, offering fans an unparalleled game-day experience. Soldier Field’s colonnades and unique design make it instantly recognizable, and its seating capacity of over 61,500 ensures an electric atmosphere every game day. The stadium is known for its harsh winter conditions, adding an extra layer of challenge for visiting teams and a testament to the toughness of Bears fans. Throughout its history, Soldier Field has been the site of many memorable moments, such as the famous “Fog Bowl” in 1988, where the Bears defeated the Philadelphia Eagles in a playoff game shrouded in thick fog. Another historic play was Devin Hester’s record-setting punt return for a touchdown on Monday Night Football in 2006, solidifying his status as one of the greatest return specialists in NFL history. Before Soldier Field, the Bears played at Wrigley Field from 1921 to 1970, sharing the historic venue with the Chicago Cubs.
