Gameday

The Atlanta Falcons were established in 1965 and have had a rollercoaster history filled with memorable highs and heartbreaking lows. They reached their first Super Bowl in 1999, but it wasn’t until 2016 that they made a serious run, led by MVP quarterback Matt Ryan and superstar wide receiver Julio Jones. That season, they made it to Super Bowl LI, where they faced the New England Patriots. Owner Arthur Blank was famously seen on the sidelines in the fourth quarter, believing the Falcons had secured their first Super Bowl victory. Unfortunately, the game took a dramatic turn as the Patriots mounted an incredible comeback, leading to an overtime loss for the Falcons.

Mercedes-Benz Stadium, home of the Atlanta Falcons since 2017, is an architectural marvel located in downtown Atlanta. Designed by HOK architects, the stadium features a unique retractable roof that opens like a camera aperture and a massive 360-degree video halo board, offering fans an unparalleled viewing experience. The exterior of the stadium resembles a bird’s nest, reflecting the Falcons’ identity and providing a distinctive visual landmark. The stadium’s cutting-edge design and state-of-the-art amenities, including world-class concessions and premium seating options, make it one of the premier sports venues in the world. One of the most iconic moments in Mercedes-Benz Stadium history was Julio Jones’ spectacular sideline catch during the 2017 NFC Championship Game, which helped propel the Falcons to Super Bowl LI. Another unforgettable play was Matt Ryan’s last-minute touchdown pass to Mohamed Sanu in the same season, sealing a crucial victory and electrifying the home crowd. Before moving to Mercedes-Benz Stadium, the Falcons played at the Georgia Dome from 1992 to 2016. Before moving to the Georgia Dome in 1992, the Atlanta Falcons played their home games at Atlanta–Fulton County Stadium. This multi-purpose stadium, which they shared with the Atlanta Braves, was the Falcons’ home from their inaugural season in 1966 until 1991.
